Australian Captain Apologises For Sledging R Ashwin
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Jan 2021 7:55 AM GMTAustralia players lost their nerve after India batsmen frustrated them in the final day of the 3rd Test match at SCG. Captain Tim Paine lost his cool multiple times and launched verbal volleys at Ashwin, having inefficient to dismiss him. Paine was picked up by the stump mic and fans were not happy with the skipper for his provocative chatter.
On Tuesday, Paine held an impromptu press conference and issued an apology to Indian cricket fans for his misbehaviour on the field.
Paine said that he wanted to apologise for the mistakes he made. He said. "I want to apologise for the way I went about things yesterday. I'm someone who prides themselves on the way I lead this team and yesterday was a poor reflection of that."
He added, "My leadership wasn't good enough, I let the pressure of the game get to me, it affected my mood and then from there affected my performance. Yesterday when I came off the ground my reflection was purely on my wicketkeeping."
The fourth and final Test is scheduled to be played at the Gabba, starting on January 15.
