Nandyal is known for its trademark politics. The politics in this region are dominated by three families. The Silpa family, which is now ruling the roost, the Bhuma family, he has been dominating the politics in its own characteristic way, and the Gangula family.
Since 2014, the Bhuma family has been dominating the scene. However, post Bhuma Nagireddy's death, the family has been facing troubled time. Bhuma's daughter Akhilapriya has alienated several close associates of her family. AV Subba Reddy, who was the mainstay of the Bhuma family and who helped Akhilapriya become a minister, too was among those estranged. The distance grew further ever since Subba Reddy was arrested. It was during this time that Subba Reddy's daughter has entered into the political fray on behalf of her dad and attracted everyone's attention.
In a very clever move, she continued to be active in the public sphere, not as a factionist leader, but as a person involved in social service activities. She has launched several service initiatives. She has also set up a helpline for the poor and the destitute during the Covid period. She has done lot of service activities too. It is now being rumoured that she would be given TDP's ticket from either Nandyal or Allagadda in the 2024 elections.
