Resolution seeking prestigious Award to Mahatma Gandhi tabled in US House of Representatives!

Celebrated Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi has shown the path of non-violence to the world. His principles are followed not only in India but other countries too.
As a bid to honour the great person,Congresswoman Carolyn B Maloney had tabled the proposal before the US House of Representatives seeking Congressional Gold Medal to Mahatma Gandhi.
The lawmaker told the house that the principles of Mahatma Gandhi had Inspired the world besides India. We should recognise the path he showed that promotes non-violence, she said.
She credited Mahatma Gandhi for inspiring various movements that have started across the globe. Carolyn B Maloney said that she gets inspired through Gandhian principles everyday.
The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian award that is presented to people that show impeccable impact on various fields.
No Indian leader was presented with such an award before. If the resolution gets passed, Mahatma Gandhi would be the first Indian to get the award.
Earlier, great personalities like George Washington, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, and others were honoured with the Congressional Gold Medal.
