Modi In A Hurry To Insure 50 Crore Indians

Union Budget 2018-19 proposed Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for poor families in the country. The agenda is to cover as many as 50 crore families under the health insurance scheme in view of the next elections.
5 Months after the grand announcement, Centre is still not able to complete the exercise for August launch of its most ambitious programme. It is yet to convince Hospitals and Insurance Companies for the implementation.
As per WHO Report, Expenditure on health issues pushed over 52 percent people below the poverty line.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in a hurry to roll out the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme before Lok Sabha Polls which are likely to happen in October 2018. Major hurdle could be the lack of such infrastructure in the Government Sector. Dependency on Private Sector is a must to implement such programmes.
What about the implementation of Modi's Health Insurance Scheme in states like West Bengal and AP where regional parties have been waging a war with BJP? Non-BJP Governments and Anti-Modi Parties have already been mocking the scheme as a political stunt or vote bank politics.
