Keeping an end to 28 long years a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Lucknow gave its verdict on the infamous 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case that shocked the entire nation.

CBI judge Surendra Kumar Yadav ruled out stating that there is no substantial evidence to prove that the demolition was a pre-planned act. All the accused in the case were acquitted.

CBI Judge SK Yadav has read out the final verdict on the demolition case. While reading the 2,300 pages long verdict, the judge said the "Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) doesn't have any role in the act either directly or indirectly.

The Uttar Pradesh government has tightened the security around the special CBI court. The government has arranged multi-layered security arrangements at the court premises ahead of the verdict.

Though the court directed the accused to be present at the court, three key accused skipped the physical hearing. While Uma Bharti contacted the COVID-19 virus, BJP Veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi skipped the hearing for their health reasons.

The Babri Masjid that was constructed by the Mughal ruler Babar, was demolished by the mob of Kar sevaks on December 6, 1992. They alleged that the Masjid was built on the birthplace of Hindu deity Lord Rama.
