The ongoing intense war between Ukraine and Russia made India worry. The reason for this is that several Indian students and other people were stuck in Ukraine. After successfully airlifting the batch of Indians, the efforts got a break with Ukraine closing its airbase as a precautionary measure.

Having faced a shock with Ukraine closing its airbase and sending the Indian planes back, the Indian government is looking at other options on how to airlift the Indians stuck there. The Ministry of External Affairs is giving its best in this regard.

A few special teams of MEA have reached war-hit Ukraine to make sure that the Indian community remains safe and is safely evacuated to India. The Indian community and their relatives back in India are concerned about the situation and posting videos on social media to give an insight into life in Ukraine.

The evacuation efforts of India made everyone go back into history and remember how the Indian government had pulled off a brave stint and airlifted 170K Indians. The brave stunt of India made everyone look at India and the stunt also found a post as a world record.

Getting details of the old stunt, India had evacuated as many as 170 k Indians from Kuwait back in 1990. When Kuwait was in a bothering situation with Iraq calling a war, India found itself in a situation to swiftly react.

Deciding to go ahead and bring back Indians safely, the Indian nationals stuck in Kuwait were airlifted by the Air India carrier back in 1990. The whole episode remains the biggest mass evacuation so far in history and was recorded by the Guinness World Records as well.

The evacuation became successful with the Air India airlines operating flight services to various nations including Kuwait. Over 1.70 lakh people were evacuated from Kuwait. Several buses were used to shift Indians stuck in Kuwait to Jordan. From there, the Indians were airlifted.

The mass evacuation of Indians from Kuwait inspired a hit Bollywood film. The 2016 released Hindi film Airlift is based on the Kuwait episode. Khiladi Akshay Kumar played the lead role in the film. Akshay played a businessman, who settled in Kuwait and decided to take a big risk to safely evacuate fellow Indians stuck in Kuwait.
