Bandaru Dattatreya Appointed As Governor

Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. He replaced outgoing Governor Kalraj Mishra who is now transferred to Rajasthan.
Bandaru Dattatreya is a BJP Loyalist. He joined RSS in the 60s. From 1981 to 1989, He was BJP's General Secretary for AP Unit. In 1991, Dattatreya was elected to Lok Sabha for the first time from Secunderabad. He served as BJP's AP Unit President from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, Dattatrya became MP for the second time and even got inducted into Vajpayee Government as MoS for Urban Development. In 2013, He served as BJP National Vice President. Dattatreya became Secunderabad MP once again in 2014 after losing in 2004 and 2009. He was inducted into Modi Cabinet as MoS Labour and Employment but was sacked in September 2017.
Dattatreya was denied Secunderabad MP ticket in 2019 Lok Sabha Polls. BJP, however, offered him a respectable post within couple of months.
