Will he pass the first big test to his leadership? Will his own partymen allow him to win? Will his rivals keep quiet and allow him to bask in the success? These are the questions that the BJP watchers are asking these days.
Bandi Sanjay, the newly appointed president of the party, has the biggest challenge waiting for him in the days to come. The first challenge is the upcoming GHMC elections. The GHMC elections will be seen as a litmus test for his abilities. But, if sources are to be believed, the BJP seniors, who are unhappy at his being made the party president, might not help him.
Sanjay, a rank outsider for Hyderabad, has to depend on the senior leaders for the GHMC elections. However, the party did not do all that well in the last two GHMC elections winning just 4 and 5 seats respectively. If seniors from Hyderabad do not help him, the party may not even be able to improve its performance. This will reflect poorly on his leadership and he would be bracketed with the earlier presidents who had failed to deliver.
The second biggest test would be in the form of the Graduate Constituency MLC elections. The party now has one seat. It is important for the party to retain the seat and win more seats. How Sanjay will do it is the big question before the party watchers. Let's wait and see how Sanjay manages to steer himself through these troubled waters.
