Keeping an end to media reports and speculations on Indian opener Rohit Sharma's fitness status, the Cricket administrative body in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) released an official statement.

In the official statement, the BCCI said Rohit Sharma has been declared clinically fit and he will be traveling to Australia for the Aussies tour. Before joining the Indian squad, Rohit will spend 14 days in a quarantine facility as per the protocol.

Rohit Sharma, who developed a hamstring injury during the 2020 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) was not picked for the Australia tour given the concerts over his fitness.

Following this, Rohit Sharma headed to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after the IPL final and went through a rehabilitation process and regained his fitness. The medical team has assessed his fitness.

"Team India batsman Mr. Rohit Sharma has completed his rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and is now clinically fit. He has been rehabilitating and training at NCA since 19th November following a high-grade left hamstring injury suffered during the Indian Premier League (IPL)," BCCI's statement read.

Taking the 14-day quarantine period into consideration, Rohit Sharma is likely to be available for the last two test series. This news will fill josh in the Indian team as Virat Kohli will leave for Indian after the first test.
