BCCI shortlists 292 players out of 1,114 players for 2021 IPL Auction

The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament, which marks the 14th edition of the game will take place on the 18th of this month. The Shore city Chennai will host the auction.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has said that a total of 1,114 players have enrolled themselves for the mini-auction, but only 292 cricketers were shortlisted for the auction.

The auction will take place for the 292 players who were slotted in the list of the highest reserve price, Rs 2 crore. The list includes Indian players Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, and overseas players like Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy & Mark Wood.

The Indian player duo found a place in the auction list after the Chennai Super Kings(CSK) has released them. Harbhajan Singh was released after he said he can’t play the 2020 edition of IPL. CSK axed Jadav owing to his poor performance.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is having (Rs 53.1 crore) in its hand. Keeping the auction in mind, the franchise has released big players like Glenn Maxwell of Australia and Sheldon Cottrell of West Indies.

Out of the 292 players, the base price of 12 players was fixed at Rs 1.5 crore, while 11 players have found a place in the list of players under the price tag of Rs 1 crore, Hanuma Vihari and Umesh Yadav were among the 11 players.

On the other hand, Arjun Tendulkar, son of former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was included in the list of players under the lowest base price of Rs 20 lakh.
