Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended Yusuf Pathan for five months on ground of doping violation. A statement has been issued saying that the All-Rounder had inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance which was found in cough syrups.

Earlier, BCCI instructed the Baroda Cricket Association not to select him for the recently concluded Ranji Trophy due to the same issue.

On March 16th last year, Pathan offered his urine samples as part of BCCI's Anti-Doping Test program during a Domestic T20 match. He claimed to have taken medication containing Terbutaline which was mistakenly prescribed to him. BCCI was satisfied with the explanation and decided to end the suspension as early as possible.

Suspension of Yusuf Pathan has been continuing since August 15th last year. The 5-Month Ban will end on January 14th, 2018. That means, Yusuf Pathan will be available for Indian Premier League 11th edition.
