Beef Festival Conducted In Osmania University Despite Court Ban

Defying court orders, some student groups on Thursday conducted Beef Festival event on the Osmania University campus. The pictures of students enjoying beef were released and the police immediately swooped on the hostels. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Raja Singh, who has condemned the event, has been taken into preventive custody.
Meanwhile Sixteen students of Osmania University were arrested this morning over their plan to have a beef festival on campus in defiance of a court ban. Prof. PL Vishweshwara Rao and some other faculty members of OU who supported the beef festival were also arrested by the police.
The police have arrested about 20 organizers and sealed the entire campus. Only those who carry identity card and employees are being allowed inside. The media persons are not being allowed either.
Meanwhile, Hindu organization Gou Samrakshana Samiti also came down heavily on the student groups on beef festival.
