Bharat Bandh: How does it affect us?

More than 10 Lakh Workers of various sectors have been taking part in the Bharat Bandh Today. For what sake, the nationwide bandh call has been given? Workers Unions have been protesting against the new Labour & Investment Policies and demanding a better pay.
How does Bharat Bandh effect the citizens? Government Offices, Banks and Industries will be shut down. Public Transportation will be affected.
Trade Unions turned down the appeal of Union Government to call off the strike. It even offered to sanction bonuses for State Employees for the past two years and raise in minimum wages for unskilled labour.
Unions were particularly against the plans to close state-run firms which are incurring losses and liberal norms for foreign investment. Centre set a target of raising Rs 55,907 crore in the financial year. It wishes to shut down 77 state-run firms permanently as they incurred a loss of Rs 26,780 crore in the last financial year.
