Scams took place during UPA Government's 10 years rule were much bigger in number than anyone might have thought. After 2G Spectrum, Coalgate & Agusta Westland VVIP Chopper, One more massive scam has seen light now.
A Defence contract to an Italian ship-building company 'Fincantieri' has come under the scanner now. UPA Government permitted the firm to use inferior quality steel (used Commercial Grade Steel instead of Weapon Grade Steel) in the naval tankers. This is believed to be a bigger scam than Agusta Westland VVIP Chopper deal. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has ordered for a probe into the allegations of undue favors received by an Italian firm during UPA Tenure in connection with two naval tankers provided for India.
INS Deepak & INS Shakti, Indian Navy's two fleet tankers, will provide water, fuel & other requirements for Warships whenever they were out in the sea. The deal which took place in 2009 is under scrutiny now after a Naval Officer complained against the manner in which the naval tankers were acquired.
