Prohibition on Liquor Consumption illegal: HC

Patna High Court stunned the Bihar Government by quashing the Prohibition Act introduced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar soon after retaining power. The bench termed the Prohibition Act as illegal and unconstitutional.
On April 5th this year, JD (U) Government issued a notification prohibiting sale, consumption and possession of IMFL all over the state. Subsequently, All the old liquor licenses have been cancelled. A huge campaign against liquor consumption was led by Nitish Kumar. Government passed the Liquor Bill 2016 during the Monsoon session of Assembly. The Prohibition Act permits the Government to punish the adult family members of the person who was caught selling, consuming or possession liquor.
High Court verdict is a huge setback to CM Nitish Kumar. Now, Bihar People can buy and consume liquor bought from other states.
Bihar Government sought legal opinion on the HC Verdict to proceed further. Will Nitish Kumar lift prohibition in the state?
