Bill Gates Felicitates Modi With Goalkeepers Award
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Sep 2019 6:30 AM GMTThe Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) presented the prestigious Goalkeepers Global Goals award to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the service he done through Swachh Bharat campaign. Upon accepting the award, Modi said: 'Happy that Ghandiji's dream of Swachh Bharat got fulfilled with the Goalkeepers Global Goals award days before his 150th birth anniversary. This Award doesn't belongs to Me alone, but 130 crore Indians. We saved 3 lakh people from diseases after launching Swachh Bharat campaign. Lack of Toilets in the schools used to force girls to stop education midway. Swachh Bharat brought a change. Due to this programme, Indian States have been competing with one another for maintaining cleanliness'.
People across the World complained Narendra Modi doesn't deserve Goalkeepers Global Goals award citing the vast gap between tall claims and reality of Swachh Bharat. International Development Academics and Practitioners accepts that NDA Government made significant efforts to address the sanitation crisis but points out Open Defacation still prevails in India.
There were Individuals who complain Modi's track record as Gujarat CM, during which Godhra Riots happened, doesn't justify the global goals of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. At the end of the day, What BMGF thinks matters the most. At least, NaMo has done something that his predecessors failed to do.
