As there are several doubts and questions on the reason behind the helicopter crash that was carrying Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife, and others, the Indian Air Force (IAF) had started a search operation to retrieve the black box of the Army Chopper. In total 13 people including Bipin Rawat lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.

The hard work of the special team had paid off finally with the officials retrieving the black box. To know the reason behind the crash, the retrieved black box will be sent to a special laboratory. It is said that the black box might be sent to IT Capital Bangalore or the national capital Delhi.

The black box is going to play a key role in the matter as the box stores data including the conversation of the passengers in the chopper. The data recorded half an hour before the crash would be recorded by the box that would answer all the questions about the helicopter crash.

The helicopter crash was reported on Wednesday in the afternoon. After the crash, the rescue teams rushed to the spot and started the operations. 13 bodies were collected by the teams and the bodies were sent to the DNA tests for the identification process.

By the evening, the Indian Air Force (IAF) disclosed the sad news of the casualties of 13 passengers including Bipin Rawat. In a series of tweets, the IAF said with a heavy heart, it is announcing the sad news of the demise of Bipin Rawat, his wife, and other passengers.

Bipin Rawat who was scheduled to reach the Defence Staff College in Wellington and address the staff and other officers had left the Air Station in Sulur. Minutes after leaving the Air Station, the Mi-17V5 chopper crashed in Coonoor.

In the chopper crash, only one person had managed to survive the crash. The Indian Air Force (IAF) said, Group Captain Varun Singh survived the crash and was shifted to the Wellington Military Hospital. He is undergoing treatment at the medical facility. He is expected to give more info on the crash after recovering.
