BJPs biggest worry is - how to win UP?
X
Falling popularity graph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is becoming a biggest cause for worry for the BJP. Handling of Covid second wave, rising prices, falling economy have all pulled Modi's popularity from the high pedestal that it stayed all these years. Foreign intel agencies say that Modi's popularity has fallen by 50 per cent.

This is tormenting the Modi supporters and the BJP. As if this is not enough, there another real danger lurking around the corner. The party is now worried about a major poll it will have to face early next year. India's most populous state with the highest number of MP seats – Uttar Pradesh – will go to polls early next year. Modi's protégé Yogi Adityanath will be tested in the elections. With mounting covid cases, will Yogi be able to repeat the 2017 election result? Will he be able to come back to power again? This is the big question before the BJP leadership. After the defeat in West Bengal, the party's morale is down and the party feels it needs a super human effort to win in UP.

UP is a key state in the country that decides the political fortunes of the parties and leaders. If Modi and the BJP lose the state, then the BJP graph will fall down fare more quickly than expected. The party may not be able to sustain the movement till 2024 and might even lose the general elections. So, the question before the party now is how to win UP and re-establish its supremacy. The party's thinking heads are splitting their brains out on this issue.
