BJP Leader Wants A Probe Into TRP Ratings Of Telugu Channels!

The claims made by the Maharashtra police about the TRP (Television Rating Point) racket in some major Television channels has shocked the media industry and the racket turned out as a debate topic.
Amid allegations of regional News channels indulging in such practice to tamper the viewership to obtain higher TRP from the securing ratings from the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), BJP allegedly wants a probe into the TRP ratings of regional channels.
According to some media reports, Telangana BJP spokesman K Krishna Sagar came up with a new demand that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry should issue directives to start a detailed probe to check whether any parameters of BARC tampered in order to get a high TRP rating.
"Referring to the Maharashtra scenario, the BJP leader made allegations that the FIR that was filled by the Maharashtra police concerning the TRP ratings raises doubts of political interests," media reports quoted the leader
His comments gained significance as the Maharashtra police naming the channels that are believed to tamper the BARC meters and making moves to take action against them for misleading the public.
He found fault with the police naming only selected news channels in the FIR in connection with the alleged TRP racket of national and regional Marathi channels, media reports said
He went on to say that their party(BJP) is in support of safeguarding the journalistic values as the media is highly regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy.
