BJP's dilemma: How to deal with Jagan?
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 April 2021 12:50 PM ISTThe BJP is said to be in confusion as to how to deal with YS Jagan. The party wants to directly attack YS Jagan at least during the Tirupati bypoll. But wily Jagan is giving them no such opportunity. His approach to the BJP and the support he is extending to the BJP at the Centre on various issues is blunting the BJP attack.
For Tirupati bypoll, the BJP wanted to sharpen its attack on Jagan. It wanted to target his Christian roots and take up the issue of Christian propaganda in the holy town. However, the recent panchayat and civic body elections have shown that this was not an issue at all during the campaign. So, the biggest question is whether to use the Christian card or not. At the same time, Jagan's temple hopping and visits to Seers and swamis is blunting the attack. The BJP similarly is in a confusion over whether to attack his policies. This is because the YSRCP is one of the biggest support for the BJP at the centre. It supports all the bills that the BJP government brings and repeatedly bails it out in the Rajya Sabha. So, the BjP is undecided as to how to attack the YSRCP.
Interestingly, Ratnaprabha, the BJP candidate for Tirupati, is on record praising the YSRCP government and its policies. So, she too is finding it difficult to oppose the party she has praised. Though Sunil Deodhar said that Jagan might go to prison again, the other leaders did not join in chorus. So, the AP BJP is looking for a reason to attack the YSRCP.
