BJP Facing Negative Image in Modi's Home State?
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Sep 2022 12:48 PM GMTThe growth of the saffron party BJP can be seen before and after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. During the campaign, the Bharatiya Janata Party promised the Gujarat model throughout the country. As Gujarat is the home state of Narendra Modi, many believed that the BJP would do wonders. Still, no one knows what the Gujarat model is.
Now the saffron party is facing heat in its stronghold Gujarat. The employees who have a few demands went for a protest recently. Though the protest was called off, the employees are going on mass casual leave as a bid to show their fight against their demand for the old pension scheme (OPS).
The state government's stand on the old pension scheme (OPS) that employees who got jobs before April 2005 will get the OPS scheme and employees who joined office after that will not get the scheme benefits did not go well with the employees.
Demanding the OPS for all the employees, they are going for the protest by taking mass casual leaves. BJP facing issues in its stronghold is a serious issue. On the other hand, AAP is eyeing to enter the state and is offering many promises. If anything goes out of hand, then BJP has to lose power.
Moreover, the general elections in the state are fast approaching and the saffron party is in a tight spot now. They cannot go forward with implementing the OPS as it will bring a big burden on the state economy. If they take a back step, the other parties might bank on the negative image.
