It's Official: BJP Richest National Party!
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 April 2018 9:49 AM ISTBJP emerged as the richest among the seven National Parties in India with a declared income of Rs 1,034 crore during 2016-17. On the other hand, Congress holds 2nd position with a declared income of Rs 225.36 crore. CPM posted an annual income of Rs 100 crore. CPI stood at rock bottom of the table with an earning of just Rs 2 crore.
As per the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), BJP's income grew 81 percent in 2016-17 when compared to the previous year.
Although October 30th last year was the final date to submit their annual audit accounts, All the seven National Parties completed the exercise a bit late. While Congress overshoot the deadline by 139 days, BJP delayed up to 99 days. Lack of any consequences despite delay in submission of audit accounts is a big surprise.
Congress spent Rs 321 crore during the financial year 2016-17, that's almost Rs 100 crore more than what it earned. The expenditure of BJP during the same period was Rs 710.05 crore.
Total Expenditure of the 7 National Parties (BJP, Congress, CPI, CPM, NCP, Trinamool) was Rs 1,228.26 crore.
