BJP Issues Gag Order On Shiv Sena Comments
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Nov 2019 7:30 AM GMTEven as the Maharashtra political imbroglio came to a critical stage, the BJP has asked all its leaders to ignore the incendiary and inciting comments from the Shiv Sena. It has asked all its MLAs and key leaders not to react to the statements from the friend-turned-rival.
Monday would be a key day as AICC chief Sonia Gandhi is all set to meet NCP's Sharad Pawar to strategise on the issue of supporting the Shiv Sena. The BJP on its part is making no effort to reach out to the Shiv Sena.
Meanwhile, the deadlock over the government formation in the key western state continues as the BJP has clearly said that it will not share the CM post with Shiv Sena, which has got just half the number of MLAs that the BJP has won. The BJP, which has about 120 MLAs in its kitty, including the independents who support it, feels that there was no need to talk to the Shiv Sena on the issue. Even party chief Amit Shah, who was to meet Uddhav Thackeray to settle the dispute, has backed off.
With the term of the Maharashtra government ending on November 9, there is a possibility that president's rule could be imposed in the state. If no party comes forward to form the government, the governor will be left with no option but to impose the president's rule. In the 288 member Maharashtra assembly, the BJP has 105, while the Shiv Sena has 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44 seats.
