Free Covid Vaccine In Bihar: BJP IT Cell Comes With An Explanation
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Oct 2020 3:00 PM GMTBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its election manifesto promising free vaccine for the public in Bihar has kick-started a political storm with the opposition lashing out at the government.
The opposition lashed out at the Centre for doing politics in the name of the Covid-19 vaccine. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at the government.
On top of that, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami has also announced a free vaccine will be provided to the public in the state once the Covid-19 vaccine is ready.
With the controversy getting bigger and bigger, Amit Malviya of BJP IT Cell stepped in to explain the election promise in the party manifesto. Explaining the promise, Malviya called the promise as simple.
"BJP's manifesto promises free Covid vaccine. Like all programs, center will provide vaccines to states at a nominal rate. It is for the state Govts to decide if they want to give it free or otherwise. Health being a state subject, Bihar BJP has decided to give it free. Simple (sic)," his tweet read.
In his Tweet, he said like any other program, the Covid vaccine will be provided to the states by the Centre at a normal price and it depends on the state whether to provide the vaccine for free or not.
Earlier, while releasing the party manifesto, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, once the vaccine will be available, vaccines will be provided to everyone in the state free of cost. This is the first election promise.
