BJP Makes Senior Citizens Fear Traveling in Trains!
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 July 2022 6:52 AM GMTAs if the growing prices are not enough, the union government made it tough for the common people by imposing Goods and Services Tax(GST) on every possible product. The GST was slapped on mostly used products like Curd, Paneer, and even Masala. The GST bomb is exploding in the kitchens of the common people.
The way the union government is imposing the GST brought a big criticism for the saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party that the policies they implement are anti-poor. Adding fuel to the criticism, the union government shocked the senior citizens this time.
For the past few decades, senior citizens have been getting an advantage in getting discounts on railway ticket fares. Now the union government has stopped the concessions on tickets and even said that in the future too the government will not start giving the concessions.
In the lower house of Parliament Lok Sabha, Minister of Railways Ashiwini Vaishnaw replied to a question and said that the decision to cut the discount was taken as the Railways are going through losses.
Having said that, the Minister said, the tickets in Railways are low and the concessions given to various categories of passengers are creating a big impact on the recurring loss. This will surely shock the senior citizens.
Without a doubt, Railways are the cheapest means of transport in India. Though the charges are less compared to other means, the fares were also increased at regular intervals. Unlike in the past, the passengers are finding it tough in buying tickets.
Forget about other tickets, even the platform ticket price is increased. Earlier, it used to be Rs 10 per ticket and it was increased by four folds and one platform ticket costs Rs 50 now.
However, the senior citizens used to escape the high prices with the concessions they were granted by the railways earlier. Sadly, the union government has now placed the senior citizens too with the rest and they will have to pay the total price for the tickets. Railways might have faced losses. But it doesn't make any sense in cancelling the concessions.
