Has the BJP launched its 'Operation Akarsh' in Anantapur district? Has it begun wooing the leaders from the TDP and is asking them to join the party? Sources say â Yes. The BJP has launched an all-out offensive in Anantapur to wean away big guns of the TDP.
Anantapur borders Karnataka and Karnataka politics have their impact on the district politics. With BjP going strong in Karnataka, several politicians are said to be attracted to the party. The BJP is said to be targeting the leaders from the TDP. The reason? Simple. Now most of the TDP leaders in the district feel vulnerable. They are worried that their past will catch up and they would be targeted by the ruling YSRCP. Some leaders are already feeling the pinch ever since the TDP has gone out of power.
Leaders like Gonuguntla Suryanarayana and Vajra Bhaskar Reddy are said to be in touch with the BJP leaders. Somu Veerraju has sent emissaries to talk to them. Meanwhile, another political family from the TDP, which is now facing lot of cases and is braving attacks on their income sources, too is said to have begun parleys with the BJP. If all goes well, few more TDP leaders could join the BJP mainly to save themselves from cases.
