By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Feb 2021 3:08 PM GMTThe fuel prices in India are soaring high over the past few months. The prices have surpassed the century mark in a few states. The recently delivered Union Budget has paved way for increasing the prices further.
In the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed to impose Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) on the fuels which is expected to increase the prices.
This left the opposition parties and netizens to make fun of the union government over the skyrocketing fuel prices. BJP MP has also joined them in mocking the union government.
BJP leader, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy took to microblogging site Twitter to compare the fuel prices in India with Nepal and Sri Lanka.
She shared a picture on his Twitter handle, which reads "Petrol Rs 93 in ram's India, Rs 53 in Sita's Nepal and Rs 51 in Ravan's Lanka"
The petrol prices have reached Rs 92.86 per litre in the financial capital Mumbai and Rs 86.30 in the national capital Delhi. However, there is no change in diesel prices in these two metro cities.
