Violence On Polling Day Kills 12, Injures 42!
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 May 2018 4:41 PM GMTViolence erupted during West Bengal Panchayat Polls on Monday. Inspite of deploying 60,000 police personnel to ensure smooth polling, State Government was unable to prevent violence and disturbing incidents took place in several districts.
As of now, About 12 people were declared dead and over 40 people suffered injuries due to violence. Attackers targeted polling booths with Crude Bombs. Workers of ruling Trinamool Congress and Opposition Parties were involved in the violence.
These untoward incidents happened just a day after CM Mamata Banerjee informed about death threats she has been facing. While Opposition Parties blamed TMC for violence, Ruling Party downplayed it by saying the damage occurred Today is far less than what it was during the Left rule.
Inspite of the violence, An impressive 73 percent of polling was recorded in the West Bengal Panchayat Polls.
