After its stunning victories in Delhi and Punjab assemblies, here comes the 'broom' of the Aam Aadmi Party. It is all set to sweep off in Telangana too. A buoyed up and energized AAP is now going to set off on a padayatra in Telangana to popularize the party, its ideology and its symbol, the broom. This is part of the AAP's plans to expand in South India.

AAP sources say that the yatra would begin from April 14 and would cover 25 prominent areas in Hyderabad city. Expansion to the rural areas would be taken up later. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will pay a visit to Hyderabad to launch the padayatra in the city. In the second phase, the yatra would be taken up from Warangal city.

Unlike the other padayatras, the yatra is intensive and would be planned at the micro level. The yatra would take three to four days for each constituency in the city of Hyderabad. Thus, it would take nearly three months to cover the 25 key points in the city beginning from Secunderabad to Chandrayan Gutta. The yatra would be used to understand the problems of the people.

Meanwhile, talks are said to be still on to merge the Telangana Jana Samithi of Prof Kodandaram. The TJS has met several times to discuss the modalities of merger. While Prof. Kodandaram is not amenable to the idea of merging, the rank and file of the party are enthusiastic about the proposal.
