Business links of local TDP leaders responsible for Kuppam defeat, says reporrt

When Kuppam municipality was lost, the TDP was quick to blame the hooliganism of the YSRCP and fake voting for the defeat. Even a seasoned politician like Chandrababu Naidu made the same comment. Now after the heat and dust of Kuppam has settled, the party's internal assessment of the defeat has come out. And, it lists the reasons for the party's defeat. Interestingly, both YSRCP hooliganism and fake voting are not cited as the reasons.
In the TDP review of Kuppam defeat, it is clearly said that the local senior leaders have lost touch with the voters. The review blames them for having business interests with YSRCP leaders. These business interests have led to the TDP defeat, says the review report. Another important point is that there was no change in the local leadership for the last 30 years.
The TDP leaders, who prepared the report, have said that despite several complaints the leaders at the local level have not been changed. It is because of this that the party had lost to the YSRCP. One key element that came up during the discussion was that the attitude of the local leaders is more responsible for the defeat than anything else.
Interestingly, all the allegations that the TDP leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu and Atchen Naidu made after Kuppam defeat, are being seen as diversionary tactics aimed at simply passing the buck. It is about time that the TDP sets its house in order and begins to work hard in Kuppam.
