Butchaiah says TDP needs new leadership, wants Jr NTR
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 March 2021 6:35 PM ISTTDP senior leader and one of the very persons who remained with the party from the beginning, Goranta Butchaiah Chowdary dropped a bombshell on the 40th foundation day of the party. On Monday, while speaking at the foundation day celebrations in Rajahmundry, he said that the TDP will get a new leadership and that Junior NTR will work to strengthen the party in the coming days.
Both the comments are seen as direct indictment of Chandrababu Naidu's rule. He suggested the need for a new leadership despite the fact that Chandrababu Naidu is still the party president. At the same time, he called for NTR's involvement in party work. This is being viewed as a comment against the leadership qualities of Nara Lokesh, who is being touted as the future of the party. Interestingly, despite working with the party all these years, Butchaiah Chowdary has never been rewarded with a ministry. The only reason was that he sided with NTR during the infamous August coup and was among the last to return to the Chandrababu camp.
Butchaiah's comments are now being hotly debated within the TDP and the commentariat is splitting its head to understand the real implications of the comments on the TDP. One needs to wait and watch how Chandrababu and his supporters react to these comments.
