The RK Nagar Assembly Constituency fell vacant after the demise of former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. On Thursday, Election Commission announced by-poll of RK Nagar Constituency will be held on April 12th, 2017.

Nominations for RK Nagar by-poll will be accepted from March 16th. The last date to file nominations is on March 23rd. Scrutiny of Nominations is going to be on 24th of March. The last day for withdrawal of nomination is March 27th. While Polling is scheduled to take place on April 12th, Counting of votes will be on April 17th.

Jayalalithaa's Niece Deepa Jayakumar already declared that she would contest the RK Nagar by-poll to achieve the goals of her Aunt. She launched the political party MGR Amma Deepa Peravai. O Panneerselvam's Camp mayn't field any candidate. Instead, Jaya's Loyalist is likely to extend support to Deepa. How would Sasikala's Camp react to Deepa's nomination is going to be key? Will AIADMK field a candidate against Deepa or allows Jaya's Niece to get elected unanimously? Whatever it could be, RK Nagar Voters will elect Amma's Political Successor on April 12th.
