Cabinet Gives Nod For Consumer Protection Bill

Consumer Protection Bill 2017 is meant for ensuring consumer grievances were addressed at a fast pace and stringent action against unlawful trade practices. Misleading Advertisements and Food Adulteration will be dealt seriously after the introduction of this Act.
The New Act will pay way for establishment of Central Consumer Protection Authority which will be instrumental in addressing the consumer complaints at quick pace. Even same set of complaints made by a group of consumers will be considered by it.
Union Minister for Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan informed Consumer Empowerment is one of the main agenda of Consumer Protection Bill 2017. He warned those behind the Misleading Ads will have to pay the price.
