CAG Report a short in the arm for AP

Financial Assistance offered by Centre to Andhra Pradesh in the past 14 months is very minimal inspite of the fact that it has got the responsibility to take care of the revenue deficit post the bifurcation as per AP Reorganisation Act 2014. As a result, The financial position of the state turned from bad to worse.

AP Government informed the Centre that the revenue deficit is Rs 15,800. However, NDA Government differed with the claims of State Government and asked the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) to work on the actual revenue deficit.
As per the CAG report, AP have a revenue deficit of Rs 14,409 crore in its first year. As Centre sanctioned only Rs 2,300 crore till date, The Capital-less State will be receiving another Rs 12,100 crore.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is firm on obtaining clear assurance from Centre over Special Status and Special Package to AP. The CAG report only gives strength to AP Government's claims of financial crisis. Will Modi keeps his promise at least now?
