Can Anyone Answer Undavalli's Questions?
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 July 2023 4:46 PM ISTFormer MP Undavalli Arun Kumar has a straight question for the major parties in the state. He demanded YCP, TDP, and Janasena to share their opinions on the Uniform Civil Code(UCC) issue. He said that the parties should release a white paper on their opinions on UCC. It is known that the Narendra Modi government is gearing up to produce the bill in the upcoming Parliament Monsoon sessions. Parties are coming out to share their views on this.
But TDP, YCP, and Janasena are yet to announce their stand on this. Undavalli questioned this. He said that it's the parties' call on whether or not to support the bill. However, the parties should give reasons for supporting the bill. If they don't want to support it, they also should give the reasons for this, he said.
Undavali said that there are different laws for Hindus, Christians, and Muslims in the country now. But the Narendra Modi government is working on bringing on a common law for everyone living in the nation. However, the Common Civil Court is like Beehive. The proposal of having this has been going on for a few decades. This is not something Narendra Modi brought up. Seeing the complexity around this, no party kept a big focus on this.
There are pros and cons to Uniform Civil Code. It will be good if the UCC is implemented in an order. But the parties like Congress are alleging that the BJP wants to use this as a political weapon and wants to get votes with this in the upcoming elections. Whatever the Bharatiya Janata Party does is for political benefit. Every party wants to get political benefit and there is no doubt about this. Now we have to wait and see what happens with the UCC bill which will be tabled in the Parliament house.
