Can Tamilisai Invoke Section 8 In GHMC Area?

A demand is growing to impose Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act in Hyderabad to control the spread of Corona. The Opposition Congress is demanding that the Governor invoke Section 8 of the act to control covid 19. However, is it feasible?
Many Opposition politicians want Governor Tamilisai Saundararajan to invoke Section 8 and take over the administration of Hyderabad city and the GHMC. The chief reason for their demand is that the governor is being quite pro-active and had even reviewed the health situation in the state the other day. However, Section 8 cannot be invoked in this case as the section is specifically meant to protect the life, liberty and property of the people from Andhra region who live in Hyderabad. This was done in view of the tense situation prevailing at the time of the bifurcation of the undivided AP. The AP migrants in Hyderabad were worried about their security. So, this section cannot be invoked for controlling Corona.
Meanwhile, the Corona cases are growing at an alarming pace in the GHMC region. Almost 90 per cent of the cases reported in Telangana are from the GHMC area. On Tuesday, over 1500 cases were reported from the GHMC region alone.
