First Penis Transplant For Cancer Patient

Seems nothing is impossible for transplantation thanks to advancement of technology in medical field. We have heard about transplantations of heart, liver and lung. But here is patient who successfully operated with penis transplant surgery.
64 Year old cancer patient from the USA has received the first penis transplant. The operation was performed on Monday by doctors at Boston hospital. Going into details Thomas Manning lost his vital organ during his battle with penile cancer.
Doctors have decided to present him with a new penis and the organ was transplanted from a deceased donor. After a 15-hour procedure doctors successfully transplanted a new penis.As per the doctors the patient can perform regular activities like a man. Urination will be possible in a few weeks and he can start sexual intercourse in months time.
Penis transplantation was first successfully performed in South Africa in December 2014. Before to that it was performed in September 2006 at a military hospital in China. Although the operation was success doctors have removed the Penis after the patient and his wife suffered psychological trauma as a result of the procedure.
