Candidate in Corona Isolation, campaign in total disarray
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 April 2021 3:06 AM GMTElection campaigning in times of Corona is fraught with dangers. In Kerala, a candidate contesting elections has gone into home quarantine after he tested positive for Covid 19. His supporters are now busy undergoing tests to know whether they too are infected and the whole election campaign is in a quandary.
UDF candidate from Kochi Tony Chammani was neck-deep in the campaign when he got fever. On suspicion, he got tested for Covid 19 and the tests showed him as being affected with Corona. The MLA candidate has gone into home isolation and has told his supporters that he can no longer campaign for the elections. His supporters now have two big problems on hand. How to get votes without the candidate's presence in the campaign? And more importantly, who else got infected with the virus? Now the campaign is in total disarray what with the candidate staying away from the campaign and the party workers and strategists running to the hospitals to test themselves for Covid infection.
Tony Chammany reportedly told the party workers, that is those uninfected, to go ahead with the campaign as the UDF is the hot favourite and would anyway win the elections. Will the party workers go ahead and campaign? With just a few days left for the campaign, the UDF is deeply worried about Kochi seat.
