Why Is This TDP Toughie Running Scared?
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Oct 2019 7:17 AM GMTFormer TDP MLA and Palnadu strongman Yarapathineni Srinivas Rao is a worried man these days. The case pertaining to his illegal mining amounting to several hundreds of crores of rupees is going to soon pass into the hands of the CBI. This could mean that his huge wealth could be attached and he could be arrested anytime.
Yarapathineni and his gang have taken to illegal mining in Palnadu area and threatened anyone who tried to oppose his indiscriminate mining. Several persons were physically attacked. It was only after the YSRCP took the legal route and knocked the door of the High Court. The High Court has then directed the TDP government to conduct a CBI probe. During the TDP regime, the probe was never very serious. Every attempt was made to water down the case. However, with the YSRCP coming to power, the probe has gained momentum and now the CBI is all set to take over the case. It is likely to ask the CID department surrender all the documents to it.
Since this development, Yarapathineni and his bunch of supporters are very worried. They feel that the CBI might unravel their plans and make them pay back. They are worried that the Enforcement Directorate too might pitch in and attach the properties and other assets. As many as 700 persons have testified against Yarapathineni. So, this issue could take a serious turn.
