Why CBI questioned KCR?
X
The news of CBI questioning Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao early this week in connection with a contract when he served as the Union Minister of Labour, Employment and Training in 2006 went unnoticed as the media didn't give much importance to it.

CBI came to KCR's residence to ask him why the proposal of granting a contract (of constructing ESI Hospitals across the state) to National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) which is a central agency was cancelled. They also inquired with him why the same contract was later awarded to the Executive Engineer of the AP Fisheries Department.

Sensing sub-standard quality of work by the contractor, ESI Corporation begun the probe in 2007-08 and a case was registered by CBI in the year 2011. Initial reports suggested, There could be corruption of over Rs 5 crore and this led to an in-depth inquiry.
