The Centre asked the three states in the country that are the worst-affected states in terms of active cases and fatalities in connection with the ongoing pandemic to seriously focus on the effective measures to break the chain of virus transmission and bring down the mortality rate to less than 1 percent.

The Union Health Ministry directed three states-Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to take all the required measures to see that the condition gets under control.

It has been widely reported that the three states account for around 46 percent of the fresh cases reported in India in a single day. The states also hold the lion share of the fatalities reportedly.

The Ministry asked the states to up the testing count and offer effective clinical management and closely monitor the testing at various levels so that the fatality percentage is decreased.

The Ministry stressed Prakasam and Chittoor districts in Andhra Pradesh which have to focus more in this regard and daily monitoring is required along with providing equipment like oxygen beds and ICU wards.

Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Raigad, Jalgaon, Solapur, Satara and Palghar districts of Maharashtra are the areas that need special care and effective monitoring.

Coming to Karnataka, the Ministry said Koppal, Mysuru, Davangere, and Bellari districts come under this category and advised the concerned authorities to focus on effective testing facilities.
