Centre Places Order For 30 Crore Made-in-india Vaccines From Hyd-based Pharma Company!

As a shot in the arm in the ongoing massive vaccination drive in India against the deadly Covid virus, one more made-in-India vaccine is all set to be used to vaccinate the beneficiaries. Covaxin, developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, became the first made-in-India vaccine.
The Health Ministry said the Centre has placed an order for as many as 30 crore doses of vaccine manufactured by Hyderabad-based Biological-E. For this, the company will be receiving an amount of Rs 1,500 crore as advance.
The Biological-E's Covid vaccine is undergoing Phase III of clinical trials. In the first two phases of trials, the vaccine had derived satisfactory results.
In a statement, the Ministry said, the vaccine doses will be manufactured and would be made available from August-December 2021. For the doses, M/s Biological-E will be receiving an advance payment of Rs 1,500, the Ministry said.
“The arrangement with M/s Biological-E is part of the wider endeavour of Government of India to encourage indigenous vaccine manufacturers by providing them support in Research & Development (R&D) and also financial support," the Ministry added.
The Health Ministry went on to say that, the union government is on a mission to support five to six new Covid-19 vaccines. As part of this, Biological-E's has been supported by the government since the clinical trial stage and was given financial assistance of Rs 100 crore.
Currently, two vaccines are being used in India to vaccinate the population of the country. The Centre placed an order for the vaccines from other countries which are expected to reach India soon. With Biological-E's Covid vaccine, the vaccination drive gets the much-needed boost up.
