The fight between the YCP and Telugu Desam Party had only turned intense after the former won the 2019 general elections. On many occasions, both parties have targeted each other. However, a rare occasion happened where both parties agreed on a point.

Going into detail, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet met for a crucial meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the other day on the reorganisation of the districts in the state. The Cabinet had approved the proposal paving way for the new districts to come into effect.

As the existing districts went up, more revenue divisions were also given a nod. The new revenue divisions include the Kuppam constituency, which is represented by Telugu Desam Party chief and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Knowing that the Andhra Pradesh government had started the exercise of creating new districts, Chandrababu Naidu had written to CM Jagan with a request to make Kuppam a revenue division. In the letter, Chandrababu Naidu, aka CBN had said that Kuppam has better facilities and the people in the constituency are hoping that the constituency will be made a revenue division.

Keeping the political issues aside, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had reacted to the letter positively and issued directives to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take the required measures on making the Kuppam constituency a revenue division.

Kuppam is one of the 22 revenue divisions that came into existence with the government's decision to have more districts in the state for a better administration. Kuppam constituency, which has been the fortress of the Telugu Desam Party over the past few decades was made into a revenue division with 6 mandals.

Earlier, Kuppam was in the news with the highly intense Municipal polls that were held in 2021. The reason behind that was that after as many as 35 years, Telugu Desam Party had lost Kuppam in the Municipal polls. TDP lost the polls by winning a mere six wards, while the ruling YSRCP had emerged victorious in as many as 19 wards. This had surprised one and all at that time.
