Its known that Agri Gold has been accused of defrauding 3.2 million customers to the extent of Rs 6,380 crore by promising them higher returns.Recently the state government has issued orders to attach the properties of Agri Gold Group of companies and it formed a Agri Gold enquiry committee with Narasimha Murthy as chairman
Today the Agri Gold enquiry committee met Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office at Vijayawada and discussed the issue with him. Speaking to media after meeting naidu Narasimha Murthy told media persons that the AP government had decided to auction the assets of Agri gold Group of companies and pay amounts to its customers. Murthy said that CM assured to pay back amount to all the customers as the auction is expected to fetch more than Rs 7,000 crore.
A majority of 19 lakh customers of Agri Gold hailed from Andhra Pradesh state. Post-dated cheques issued to them to the tune of Rs 700 crore were dishonoured by banks due to insufficient funds when they tried to encash after the maturity period..
