CS, CM Avoid Confrontation In AP
X
Finally, it appears that better sense is prevailing among both the AP CM and the chief secretary. Both have decided to keep off from collision course and avoid a constitutional and administrative crisis. Both have stepped back and help avert a confrontation. The problem began when Chandrababu wanted to assert his position and primacy by calling for a cabinet meet. Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam said Chandrababu cannot hold a meeting in view of the prevailing election code. With both the CM and CS on controntational mode, the state appeared to slide into a crisis.

But, LV cleverly had his way by acknowledging Chief Minister's primacy. He suggested to the CM that one has to take permisson from the Election Commission to hold a Cabinet meeting. The agenda too needs to be spelt out clearly to enable the EC to decide whether holding the meeting of the cabinet was necessary. Meanwhile, Chandrababu too has realised that discretion is better part of valour. He sent the agenda of the meeting and said the meeting would be postponed to May 14. He said the cabinet would discuss the impact of the cyclone. The CS told him that he needs at least two days time to get a nod from the EC. Thus the meeting would be held only after the nod from the EC. Thus both have stepped back to avoid a possible confrontation.
