Chandrababu on the lookout for a candidate for Gannavaram

What is Chandrababu Naidu's plan for the all-important Gannavaram assembly constituency? Gannavaram is part of TDP's stronghold of Krishna district and has a history of standing by the TDP even during the toughest of the times. But, this time around, victorious TDP candidate Vallabhaneni Vamsi has switched loyalties and is closer to the YSRCP establishment.
Gannavaram returned to the TDP in both 2014 and 2019. Despite the YSRCP tsunami, the TDP won from Gannavaram in 2019. But with Vallabhaneni going over to the YSRCP, the TDP is currently rudderless in Gannavaram. The party has made Bachula Arjunudu its incharge for Gannavaram, but being a BC, he was unable to match up to the YSRCP in the Kamma dominated constituency.
If sources are to be believed, two names are under consideration. The first is the old warhorse Dasari Balavardhan Rao, who was a former MLA from Gannavaram and the second is Gadde Rammohan, who is currently an MLA from Krishna district. Interestingly, even Gadde had won from Gannavaram in the past.
As for Balavardhana Rao, there are two disadvantages. He is quite old and may not be able to withstand the rigours of election campaigns. Secondly, he has in the past, left the TDP to join the YSRCP. Technically he is still in the YSRCP. However, he is quite inactive in YSRCP and could join the TDP if invited. Who will Chandrababu choose? Let's wait and see!!!
