Chandrababu's Private Secretary Wants To Be An MLA

With elections fast approaching candidates are using their connections to secure an entry into politics. A former personal secretary of A P Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is among the people who wants to contest elections. E Ashok Raju, who owns a chain of educational institutions and worked as Chandrababu Naidu's personal secretary till 2004 is also planning to contest from Nagari constituency in Chittoor. He has already roped in senior party leader Ramesh Chandra Prasad in his support. The TDP is witnessing intense bickering in Nagari. There are three candidates vying for the party ticket. Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu's wife and son Jagadish are both trying for Nagari seat. Meanwhile, there are other candidates too.
Ashok Raju has thrown his hat into the ring and has been playing his cards quite carefully. He is from Kshatriya Community and the community is quite strong in the constituency. Meanwhile, Ashok Raju is trying to pull the right strings and wants to get the ticket. He has also roped in powerful Kammas onto his side. If the Kamma, Kshatriya combo works out, things would become powerful. With Roja being a Reddy, he hopes to get Khatriya votes. Politically powerful Nadar and Modaliar communities too might support him. So, he feels if given the party ticket, he can actually beat Roja and become an MLA.
Meanwhile, YSRCP has only one candidate. Sitting MLA RK Roja is comfortably placed and hopes to come back to the assembly again given the groupism in the TDP.
