Chennai Express creates history

Shahrukh Khan's new release Chennai Express has collected Rs 33.12 crore on the first day of its release in India alone to create history. The previous record is with Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger which earned Rs 31.25 crore on Day one.
Chennai Express collected Rs 6.75 crores from paid previews across India on Thursday. It also crossed the paid preview record of 3 Idiots (Rs 2.7 crore) by a big margin.
Overall, Chennai Express has collected around Rs 60 crore Worldwide on Day 1. Shahrukh's popularity across the world, over 10 language release and the festival season benefitted the film.
Shahrukh's recent films haven't fared well at the Box Office. Chennai Express brings back him to the No.1 spot.
