By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Aug 2015 4:09 AM GMTThe Cherlapally open-air prison is going to get a steel furniture manufacturing unit under public-private partnership very soon. For the first time a factory is being established in an open-air jail and as many as 100 inmates are expected to work in the unit.
Already, Steel Furniture was manufactured as a pilot project in the Cherlapally jail since few weeks. But, setting up the full machinery takes time as a lot of things need to be worked out. While the Prison Department provides land and labour for the project, Private Party will take care of wages, marketing and other work related issues.
