Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram lashed out at Reserve Bank of India and Centre over Demonetisation scrapping old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
Pointing out that 99% scrapped notes were legally exchanged, Chidambaran questioned, 'Whether Demonetisation is a scheme designed to convert Black Money into White? One Percent (Just Rs 16,000 crore out of Rs 15.44 lakh crore) banned notes hasn't come back to the Central Bank. Shame on RBI!'.
Chidambaram mocked Economists behind demonetisation saying they deserve a Nobel Prize as RBI gained Rs 16,000 crore and lost Rs 21,000 crore. He described the note ban as a huge scam.
Congress Party demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Nation as Government has failed terribly with demonetisation and 104 innocent lives have been lost during the exercise.
